The latest rankings for Boys Swimming & Diving have been released, with Charlotte Latin taking the top spot among all schools in the state.

For the second consecutive year, Charlotte Latin has claimed the top spot in the final rankings for HighSchoolOT boys swimming and diving. The Hawks were victorious in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association D1 championship.

The rankings are determined by performance in the N.C. High School Athletic Association or N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association championships. HSOT combines championship times from all categories and organizations to calculate the overall rankings for the state competition.

In certain occasions, there were situations where there were equal scores in various categories. In these cases, the tie was broken based on their placement on the podium (with a 1A champion receiving priority over a 4A athlete who placed second in the same event). If the athletes were still equal in points, the points were divided between them.

If two teams were in a deadlock for a top-25 position in the final rankings, the deciding factor would be which team placed higher in their state championship.

Latin had a significant lead of 34 points over second-place Marvin Ridge, the champion of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A division. They were an impressive 74 points ahead of third-place Ardrey Kell.

Seventeen teams that were in the top 25 preseason also made it into the final 25 rankings. The highest ranked team that was unranked at the beginning of the year was the Ravenscroft at number 6. The top ranked team in the preseason was also Latin.

Some other winning teams were No. 19 Forsyth Country Day (NCISAA Division 2) and No. 20 Carrboro (3A). Teams that were not ranked, but still won, were Trinity School of Durham-Chapel Hill (NCISAA Division 3) and Raleigh Charter (1A/2A).

Just a friendly reminder that the rankings are determined by combining all the times from different classifications and associations into a single state meet. Tied scores are determined by the team’s ranking on the podium. The list includes each team’s total points and their final placement in the championship.
