The inaugural Super Bowl in Las Vegas is causing a surge in prices on the resell ticket market.

The tickets for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas are the most expensive ever, according to one secondary-market website. This highlights the excitement surrounding the first Super Bowl to be held in Las Vegas, featuring the reigning champion and the most popular team in the Western region.

It is highly likely that Taylor Swift will be present for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers game on February 11th.

On Monday morning, the average cost of a purchase on TickPick was $9,815. This is almost twice as much as the final average price of $5,795 for last year’s game in Glendale, Arizona between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. However, these prices may decrease in the future.

The amount exceeded the previous record of $7,046 for the 2021 Tampa, Florida game between the Buccaneers and the Chiefs. Due to COVID-19 protocols limiting attendance to 33%, there was a higher demand for each ticket.

TickPick’s most expensive Super Bowl without COVID was held in 2020 at Miami Gardens, Florida, where the Chiefs and Niners faced off in the championship game for the first time. The average ticket price for that game was $6,370.

The cheapest ticket on TickPick for this year’s game was $8,188 on Monday, more than the $5,997 low price at this point last year.

According to TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg, the demand for a Super Bowl is influenced by its location, and Vegas elevates this impact to a new level. In a statement to The Associated Press, he stated that Vegas is already known as the entertainment capital of the world, and it has the potential to also become the sports capital of the world with the addition of the Super Bowl.

“Given that both teams have participated in a Super Bowl within the last five years, one would assume that there would be a decrease in fan enthusiasm and subsequently, a decrease in ticket prices. However, surprisingly, we are witnessing a surge in demand and the main motivator is fans’ desire to witness their team win a Super Bowl in Las Vegas.”

StubHub was experiencing similar demand with an average price of tickets sold at $9,300 on Monday, though that trails the Super Bowl two years ago. The average at the same time was $9,797 for the game in Inglewood, California, when the hometown Los Angeles Rams were preparing to play the Cincinnati Bengals.

The most inexpensive ticket available on StubHub for the current game was priced at $6,500.

The current sales on the website have increased by 90% compared to the same time last year and by 147% compared to the 2020 meeting between Kansas City and San Francisco.

The favorable placement for supporters of the 49ers is a major factor in the high demand for tickets, as 26% of tickets sold on StubHub are purchased by California residents. This surpasses the total number of tickets sold to individuals living in Nevada (8%) and Kansas or Missouri (7%).

According to StubHub spokesman Adam Budelli, the current Super Bowl in Las Vegas is experiencing high numbers, with sales almost twice as much as last year and an early demand that exceeds the previous matchup between Kansas City and San Francisco in Miami.
