The girls soccer team from Millbrook fought back to give Heritage their first loss.

From about 30 yards out, Millbrook sophomore Jordan Davis unleashed a free kick that bended over the Heritage defense, and the outstretched arm of its keeper to break a 1-1 in the Wildcats’ conference opener.

However, the stunning conclusions were not finished yet.

Davis delivered the final blow, sealing a 3-1 victory for Millbrook with a deep shot in the 75th minute, their fifth consecutive win.

In a matchup between two undefeated teams, Heritage was the first to score.

During the contest, after a few minutes, Lauren Hollis from Millbrook moved away from the goal and was unable to successfully clear the ball. The ball ended up at the feet of Selah Jackson, who had an unobstructed shot at the goal, resulting in a score of 1-0.

Jackson currently leads the team with seven goals in the current season, four of which were scored in a victory against West Forsyth nine days ago during The Brittany Soccer Showcase.

The Wildcats managed to even the score before the first half ended.

In the 25th minute, Gabrielle Sadosky took the ball away from a Husky defender, resulting in a 2-on-1 chance. She successfully passed to Katelyn Burnette, who scored the tying goal. This was Burnette’s fifth goal of the season, the most on the team.

14 minutes into the second half, Davis secured the lead for the Wildcats, which they held until the end. She scored a goal off a free kick, increasing Millbrook’s advantage to 2-1.

Abby Champlin caused a turnover in the midfield with only five minutes remaining. Annaka Boyd received the ball and passed it back to Davis, who then scored with a long distance shot.

The 3-1 victory avenges several narrow losses to Heritage from a year ago. Millbrook is now 5-0-1 this season with signature non-conference wins over Cardinal Gibbons and Hough already under its belt.

Davis scored twice, making it a total of four goals this season and three in her past two games.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats will come back home to face Rolesville in a conference game. The following day, they will have a challenging non-conference game against Hunt while playing away.

Heritage has a record of 4 wins, 1 loss, and 2 ties. They will have a home game against Knightdale on Wednesday and then they will play away at Holly Springs on Thursday evening.
