The fall will see the launch of a new sports streaming platform by ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.

On Tuesday, ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery revealed their intentions to launch a sports streaming service in the autumn. This platform will feature content from at least 15 networks and all four major professional sports leagues.

A convenient app for accessing a wide variety of sports would be a great solution for fans who are struggling with expensive subscription fees for multiple services.

“This new sports service exemplifies our ability as an industry to drive innovation and provide consumers with more choice, enjoyment and value and we’re thrilled to deliver it to sports fans,” Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said in a statement.

Each of the three companies will have equal ownership in the joint venture. The name and pricing for the service will be revealed at a later time.

The platform will offer a variety of games from popular sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NASCAR, and college sports. This includes major events like the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament, as well as golf, tennis, and the FIFA World Cup.

The options will consist of selections from 15 linear networks, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+.

Customers can also choose to combine the product with Disney+, Hulu, and/or Max as a package.

Lachlan Murdoch, CEO and Executive Chair of Fox, stated that the service will offer enthusiastic fans, who are not part of the typical bundle, a variety of fantastic sports content in a single location.

The bundle’s release coincides with ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery’s upcoming discussions to extend their NBA rights, set to expire after the current season.

ESPN is currently seeking out potential partners in preparation for the launch of their direct-to-consumer offering within the next one to two years.

“Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, stated that the release of this new streaming sports platform is a momentous occasion for both Disney and ESPN. It is a major triumph for sports enthusiasts and a significant advancement for the media industry. This service will offer consumers access to all ESPN channels, as well as the sports programming of other top competitors, making it a unique and focused platform for sports content.”
