On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers announced on their website that they have let go of experienced outside linebacker Justin Houston.
Houston, aged 34, has requested to be let go. The player, who has been selected for the Pro Bowl four times, has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury since November 4th.
During the 2023 season, Houston participated in seven games and earned half a sack, three tackles for a loss, and two quarterback hits.
The Panthers intended to team up Houston with standout edge rusher Brian Burns in their 3-4 base defense. Houston agreed to a one-year contract prior to the beginning of the 2023 season.
Houston’s departure enables him to join a team in the playoffs.
After 13 years in the league, the experienced player has accumulated 112 sacks, 515 tackles, and 132 tackles for a loss throughout their career.
