The fifth-annual HighSchoolOT boys swimming & diving all-state team features 19 swimmers making at least a second appearance on the team, including one that is now a seven-time selection and five-time first teamer (Charlotte Latin’s Norvy Clontz).

The all-state team is based on either N.C. High School Athletic Association or the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association championship performances.

If there were ties across different classifications, in order to determine the teams, the tiebreaker was podium placement (a 1A champ got the spot over a second-place 4A athlete in the same event). The top two times/marks are first team, the next-best two are second team, and the following top two are third team.

• Fifteen athletes made it in two different events this year: Enloe’s Ian Stutts and Alex Townsend, Marvin Ridge’s Michael Rice, Sanderson’s Aaron Davidson, Charlotte Latin’s Norvy Clontz, Charlotte Country Day’s Santi Alzate-Celin and Connor Wickerham, Ashley’s Clement Camacho, Providence Day’s Granger Bartee, Page’s Albert Smelzer, Durham Academy’s Ian Platts-Mills, Athens Drive’s Jackson Scheiber, Reagan’s Bence Burton, Ravenscroft’s Mattaus Rammel, and Cannon School’s John Kroll.
• Stutts, Townsend, Smelzer, and Rice made the first team in two events.
• Eight athletes now have at least two appearances on the first team: Stutts (three), Townsend (three), Alzate-Celin, Camacho, Rice, Clontz (five), Bartee, and Smelzer (three).
