The 2024 football season for North Carolina and NC State will begin a few days ahead of schedule.

On Thursday, August 29, the ACC announced that the Tar Heels will be visiting Minnesota and the Wolfpack will be hosting Western Carolina. On Friday, August 30, Duke, under new coach Manny Diaz, will begin their season at home against Elon.

The 17-team league will be unveiling its 2024 football schedule in three parts, with the majority of the schedule being announced on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on the ACC Network.

On July 1st, Cal, Stanford, and SMU will become full members of the ACC. The conference will not be divided into divisions, and the top two teams from the regular season will compete in the ACC Championship Game.

Seventeen teams will participate in the first weekend of games. On August 24th (Week 0), Georgia Tech and Florida State will face off in Dublin, Ireland. Florida State, who is currently in litigation with the ACC, will host Boston College on Monday, September 2nd (Labor Day) to conclude the first complete weekend of games.
