The 2023 HighSchoolOT All-State Boys Soccer Team

The fourth iteration of the HighSchoolOT boys soccer all-state team showcases seven players who have been selected for a second time, with one player being chosen for the first team twice.

The list for all-state honors includes three teams – first, second, and third – with 20 players on each team. Each team has a specific number of players for each position: two goalkeepers, four defenders, five midfielders, five forwards, and four “at-large” spots. Additionally, there is an Honorable Mention list consisting of 40 players, regardless of their position.

The players are organized by their position on each team, and then in alphabetical order. The positions were determined according to the listing from the coaches association, if available.

Rosewood High School’s Reece Gery, who holds the second spot on the NCHSAA’s list of all-time career assist leaders, is the sole player to be selected for the first-team for a second time.

Goalkeeper Cole Freeman from Ardrey Kell (a junior) has an impressive 0.877 goals against average, with only 10 goals allowed and 13 shutouts. He also makes an average of 3.6 saves per game.

Goalkeeper Paul Northcutt from South Mecklenburg High School, who is a senior, has an impressive record of 0.674 goals against average (GAA) with only 13 goals allowed and 6 shutouts. He has also made 5 penalty kick saves and on average makes 4.2 saves per game.

D: Kyle Blake of Hickory Ridge High School (senior) scored 2 goals and had 7 assists.

D: Casey Will from Chapel Hill (senior) scored 9 goals and had 2 assists.

Daniel Martin, a senior at Cox Mill, has not scored any goals or provided any assists.

Dan Sevalie-Gborie from Southern Durham (senior) has recorded 20 goals and 6 assists.

Desmond Bullard from Gray Stone Day (senior) had a total of 34 goals and 24 assists.

John Franck from New Hanover (senior) had a total of 26 goals and 10 assists.

Fernando Hernandez from Southwestern Randolph High School, who is a sophomore, had a total of 49 goals and 26 assists.

Sam Howe, a senior at Independence High School, has recorded 18 goals and 16 assists.

Tucker Kern, a senior at Weddington, has scored 8 goals and assisted on 18 goals.

Jaden Miller is a senior at Enloe High School and has scored 20 goals and made 17 assists.

Dylan Swinehart of Charlotte Country Day, a senior, recorded 23 goals and 10 assists. He has committed to play for Liberty.

Drew Waller of West Cabarrus High School, a senior, scored 43 goals and had 16 assists. He is committed to play for the University of North Carolina.

Goalkeeper Isaac Bunton of West Iredell High School, a senior, has a GAA (goals against average) of 1.388, with 26 goals allowed and 7 shutouts. He also made 1 penalty kick save and averages 7.3 saves per game.
