A talented offensive tackle from Southern Durham High School has received his first offer, and it’s a significant one.

On Tuesday morning, Ja’Vaughn Hargett, a second-year student, announced on his X account that he has been offered a scholarship to play football at the University of Tennessee.

Hargett stands at 6 feet and 6 inches and weighs 255 pounds. He is part of the 2026 graduating class at Southern Durham High School.

In the previous autumn, he was recognized for achieving 33 pancake blocks in 11 games as a member of the Spartans. He only allowed one sack. He has been a starter in 24 games and has not missed any plays. In 2023, Hargett received an overall grade of A- from Southern Durham’s coaching team.

In the 2023 season, Southern Durham had a final record of 7 wins and 5 losses. They made it to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A East playoffs, but were defeated by Scotland with a score of 21-12.
