South Lenoir football coach Will Harrell leaves for Clinton assistant job

With the high school football season right around the corner, there is a new head coach opening in Eastern North Carolina.

Previous South Lenoir High School head football coach Will Harrell has left the school and taken an assistant coach spot at Clinton High School. He confirmed the change with HighSchoolOT.

Harrell took over the Blue Devils’ program ahead of the 2021 season. He led them to win-loss records of 2-7 in 2021, 2-8 in 2022, and 1-9 last year. South Lenoir only returned five starters from the 2022 to 2023 season.

Between Harrell and former head coach Jeremy Joyner, South Lenoir has had consistency at the top of the program since 2016.

The Blue Devils are a 2A program that competes in the East Central 2A Conference. They have not appeared in a state championship or regional final.
