South Central defeated White Oak in the 3A boys basketball playoffs.
In certain instances during the N.C. High School Athletic Association boys basketball playoffs, it may be difficult to determine why one team was victorious while the other team was not. However, it is clear that towards the end of the game, one team was able to prevent the opponent from scoring while the other team was not.
During the final minutes of Friday’s second round match between White Oak and South Central, only a small margin separated the two teams in the end.
South Central advanced to the third round with a courageous 65-58 win against the Vikings. With approximately 2 minutes remaining, the two teams were deadlocked at 50 points each, but the Falcons managed to separate themselves with crucial defensive plays and successful free throws.
The fifth-ranked South Central Falcons (22-3) will now travel to Fayetteville to face the fourth-ranked Seventy-First Falcons on Tuesday.
In the first half, South Central was in the lead with a score of 28-22 against White Oak (21-7), who is ranked as the 12th seed in the 3A East.
The Falcons had a balanced scoring effort led by Troy Loftin’s 14 points and 11 from point guard Tobia Moye. For White Oak, Kaemon Noel had a game-high 16.

The White Oak basketball team’s top scorers were C.J. Jackson with 9 points, A.J. Strickland with 14 points, Derrick Benbow Jr. with 4 points, Jamison Avila with 13 points, Tre Mageo with 2 points, and Kaemon Noel with 16 points.
In the South Central team, Tobia Moye scored 11 points, Michael Bowens scored 3 points, Troy Loftin scored 14 points, Isaiah Godley scored 7 points, Zion Glover scored 5 points, Ean Behm scored 11 points, Kashmere Murphy scored 11 points, and Javon Doe scored 3 points.
