South Brunswick’s next football coach is former South Rowan leader Daniel Yow

After a long search, South Brunswick High School has landed its next head football coach. Daniel Yow has been picked to lead the most southeastern high school football program in North Carolina.

Yow is stepping in for Rocky Lewis, who departed Southport after eight seasons leading the program. Lewis is now at Fike High School in Wilson.

The news was announced by the South Brunswick football program’s X account on Friday morning.

Most recently, Yow has been the defensive line coach at Mooresville High School, which has won back-to-back conference championships.

Prior to his time at Mooresville, Yow was the head coach at South Rowan High School in China Grove from 2015-2021. His teams there maxed out at a 3-8 overall record. However, South Rowan has not won more than three games since 2009.

In addition to his time leading South Rowan, Yow was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg and the offensive line coach at Salisbury High School.

South Brunswick is coming off of a 2-8 overall season in 2023. The Cougars’ most recent winning season came in 2021, when they had a 6-5 mark under Lewis.
