Softball Rankings: Red-hot Piedmont surges as multiple top teams fall in statewide polls
With postseason play on the horizon, teams across the state are battling for conference titles, and jockeying for RPI position.
Two teams ranked No. 1 in our area code rankings fell last week which caused statewide shakeup in the polls.
Four new teams entered into Top-25 including unbeaten Kings Mountain who surged through the 704 rankings after Union County saw Porter Ridge, Marvin Ridge, and Weddington all defeat each other. Piedmont softball continued to roll to zoom past all three, and into the top 10.
West Wilkes, who has held steady at No. 3 in the state for the better part of the last month, jumps up a spot after Ledford handed No. 2 Oak Grove its first loss of the year.
Cherryville, Triton, and North Lenoir used their hot play to enter the Top-15 area code rankings.
