Skylar Brind’Amour, Nadaeu join Hurricanes for final regular-season games
Forward Skylar Brind’Amour, the son of Carolina Hurricanes’ coach Rod Brind’Amour, is joining the team in the final days of the regular season.
The younger Brind’Amour, 25, has played 67 games for Chicago of the AHL this season, scoring 23 points. Brind’Amour, a sixth-round pick in 2017 by Edmonton, has 16 goals on the season.
The Hurricanes have two regular-season games remaining — at Montreal on Wednesday and at Ottawa on Thursday. Carolina has clinched second place in the Metropolitan Division and home-ice advantage in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the New Jersey Devils.
Carolina also called up forward Bradly Nadeau, the team’s first-round pick in 2023. Nadeau, 19, made his NHL debut in the final game of last season. He led the Chicago Wolves in goals (30) and tied for the team lead with 56 points this season.
The Hurricanes also called up defensemen Domenick Fensore and Riley Stillman from Chicago. Stillman has played three games with the Hurricanes this season. Fensore, 23, was the team’s third-round pick in 2019. He had 32 points in 66 games with Chicago this season.
The Hurricanes signed Russian prospect Alexander Nikishin and hoped to have him in uniform before the end of the regular season, but he has not yet secured all the documentation needed.
Rod Brind’Amour is in his seventh season as head coach of the Hurricanes. Carolina has reached the playoffs in all seven seasons, twice reaching the Eastern Conference finals. Brind’Amour is 325-117-49 in 531 career games as the Hurricanes’ coach.
