On ESPN+, the game will be broadcasted on Thursday, December 14th at 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.

On Tuesday night, Sebastian Aho recorded two goals and one assist, helping the Carolina Hurricanes secure a 4-1 victory against the Ottawa Senators in Ontario’s capital city.

Carolina’s Matin Necas and Seth Jarvis both found the net, helping the team score three goals in the second period and end a four-game losing streak.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour believes our team was more focused and precise in our performance tonight. The margin between victory and defeat is slim, but I saw us execute the small details correctly and it resulted in scoring opportunities.

Aho praised Pyotr Kochetkov’s performance in goal, as he made 31 saves.

Aho praised his performance, saying he made crucial saves that kept them in the game, particularly in the beginning. He had a great game and Aho hopes it will boost his confidence.

Josh Norris netted a goal for the Senators, but unfortunately their three-game winning streak came to an end. Joonas Korpisalo made 24 saves in goal.

Norris described the second period as “quite embarrassing,” whereas coach D.J. Smith stated that it could possibly be the worst period his team has had this season.

“I am not putting in enough effort, I am not determined enough to prevent the puck from entering the goal,” Smith stated. “In the NHL, if you are not at the top of your game, you will not be successful. That second period was probably the lowest point of our season in terms of competing, considering the number of scoring opportunities.”

“We relinquished opportunities for a breakaway and other similar situations. Playing in that manner will not lead to a victory.”

Brady Tkachuk stated that the Senators must take lessons from their defeat as they prepare for five out of the next seven games to be played away.

Tkachuk expressed disappointment in the team’s performance during the second period. He believes there are important lessons to be taken away from this game. With a major road trip approaching, it’s crucial for the team to improve and focus.

Seven minutes into the game, the Senators were first to score as Norris deflected a shot from Erik Brannstrom into the net.

In the final minute of the period, Carolina evened the score with a goal during a power play. Skeji’s impressive pass to Necas resulted in a goal against Korpisalo on the narrower side of the net.

At 12:18 of the second period, Aho scored a power-play goal from the point to give Carolina the lead. Just over a minute later, he assisted Jarvis in scoring against Korpisalo.

At 17:19, Aho scored his 10th goal of the season by capitalizing on weak defensive coverage and easily making his way to the goal.

Trailing by three at the beginning of the third period, Ottawa made a strong effort to catch up, but Kochetkov’s performance was impressive. He blocked a breakaway shot from Drake Batherson, who was playing his 250th game, in the middle of the period, and also denied Brady Tkachuk on a penalty shot towards the end of the game.

After Kochetkov threw his stick to make a save, officials awarded Tkachuk a penalty shot.

Ottawa was 0 for 4 on the power play and slipped to 0 for 18 on the power play in its last five home games.

“Smith expressed some frustration tonight as our team faced difficulties converting our early opportunities against a strong penalty killing opponent. It’s important not to let frustration get the best of us, especially against one of the consistently top-performing teams in the league.”

The team announced that Andrei Svechnikov, a forward for the Hurricanes, will be unable to play for an undetermined amount of time due to an upper-body injury.
