Rolesville girls had an impressive second quarter, leading to a dominating win over Cardinal Gibbons.

Last year, the game went into overtime and was a nail-biter. However, tonight the Rams showed their dominance from the start and left no room for doubt.

Rolesville activated a continuous timer in the third quarter of a 79-32 victory against Cardinal Gibbons, securing their spot in the fourth round of the girls basketball playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Caitlyn Jones was a top scorer with a tally of 28 points in the team’s win. Taliya Rowe and Laila Lewis also had strong performances, contributing a total of 29 points together.

As the first quarter progressed, the Rams utilized their aggressive defense to create fast break scoring opportunities. With contributions of 6 points each from Jones and Camryn Lee, they overcame an initial disadvantage. Lewis also added 5 points, including one of her three three-pointers made in the game.

In the second quarter, the game completely shifted in favor of the victors as they went on a 24-2 scoring streak.

Rowe and Meadow Thomas had three baskets each in the frame. Jones slashed her way to the rim to the rune of 8 more before the break.

Jones added 12 points in the third quarter to secure the victory, while Rowe also contributed 9 out of her total 18 points for the quarter.

The Rams will be hosting the top eight teams on Friday evening, including Chapel Hill, who caused an upset by defeating the 3-seed Panther Creek on the road.

The victor will move on to the NCHSAA’s upcoming final four setup in Winston-Salem next week.
