Rocky Lewis has resigned as the head football coach of South Brunswick.

Rocky Lewis has stepped down from his position as the head football coach at South Brunswick High School in Southport. However, he continues to work as a teacher at the school.

Lewis had held the position of head coach since 2016. Before his tenure at South Brunswick, he was the head coach at East Columbus for two years.

Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University, Chowan University, East Carolina University, and NC A&T University.

Lewis is the son of legendary North Carolina high school football coach Bob Lewis, who posted a career record of 322-146-6 and won four state championships at Clinton High as well as one at East Bladen High and Harrells Christian Academy.

In 2021, Rocky contributed to South Brunswick’s initial successful season and playoff appearance since 2011. Throughout his eight years, South Brunswick accumulated a record of 29-54.

Lewis, who served as both the athletic director and coach at East Columbus, had a record of 1-21 with the teams. He played a pivotal role in overseeing various important facility projects at the school. However, East Columbus has not had a winning season since 2012 and is still in pursuit of one.

According to numerous reliable sources, HighSchoolOT has learned that Lewis may secure a new head coaching position in Eastern North Carolina during this year’s offseason. Currently, he is employed as a teacher at South Brunswick.
