Richmond displays passing attack to fend off Union Pines in coach Bryan Till’s return

Sometimes teams play two quarterbacks because they don’t have one they trust. That doesn’t apply to Richmond after its 27-8 win over visiting Union Pines on Friday.

Dominic Tillman was 10 of 12 passing for 128 yards. Evan Hodges was 20 for 27 passing for 264 yards and one touchdown.

Altogether, those 392 yards through the air were more than Union Pines’ total offense (80).

Union Pines (5-2, 2-1) entered the game ranked 12th in the 910 area code rankings, while Richmond (6-2, 3-1) is third.

Richmond took an early 7-0 lead as Hodges completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Chance Crowder. Union Pines erased it with a safety on a botched punt attempt and a 13-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Goswick to Kaeden Sovey.

The Raiders, however, scored one touchdown apiece in each of the last three quarters.

Tillman ran in a 3-yard touchdown, Jordan Bostick ran in a 2-yard touchdown, and Crowder ran in a 17-yard touchdown over the last three periods to put the Vikings away.
