Reidsville soph. Kendre Harrison named MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year
Reidsville High School rising junior standout Kendre Harrison has received a huge honor from MaxPreps. The Viacom-owned outlet, which focuses on covering high school sports from a national perspective, named Harrison its 2023-24 Male National Athlete of the Year.
Harrison is a HighSchoolOT All-State athlete in football and basketball.
He was named the HighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT HonorsHighSchoolOT Honors Boys Basketball Defensive Player of the Year after winning a statewide vote. He averaged 19.4 points per game, 15.1 rebounds per game, and 3.7 blocks per game. Reidsville did not lose a game en route to its N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A state championship.
Harrison also helped Reidsville to a 2A state championship in football. The 6-foot-7 tight end recorded 62 receptions for 930 yards and 16 touchdowns. On defense, he had 70 tackles, including 17 tackles for a loss and eight sacks, as well as 30 quarterback hits, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
ESPN has given Harrison a 5th star in football. The outlet has Harrison ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the country for the class of 2026. He is a consensus top 17 prospect in the country. 247Sports ranks Harrison at No. 6, On3 has him No. 12, and Rivals has the tight end slotted at No. 17 regardless of position. In basketball, Harrison is ranked as a top 31 prospect nationally by Rivals, ESPN, and 247Sports. On3 is a bit lower on Harrison the basketball player at No. 76 in the country.
He has indicated interest in playing both sports in college as well.
