Recognition of excellence in High School sports: Previous recipients and a record of past events."

” Recognition of excellence in High School sports: Previous recipients and a record of past events.”

In the school year of 2017-2018, HighSchoolOT implemented HSOT Honors to recognize the top performers in North Carolina, including athletes, coaches, and teams. This idea was influenced by ESPN’s Espy Awards.

More than 100,000 votes were recorded during the first two years of the event. The awards were distributed during live ceremonies held in downtown Raleigh.

For the 2020-2021 academic year, schools in the western half of the state were given the opportunity to be eligible for HSOT Honors awards. This aligned with HighSchoolOT’s transition to covering the entire state.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the award ceremony was broadcasted on WRAL-TV instead of being held in person for both 2020 and 2021.

The event will be held in person in 2022 and 2023.

In order to recognize a larger number of athletes in a timely manner, HighSchoolOT Honors has altered its format for the 2023-2024 academic year. Rather than having a single awards ceremony during the summer, the winners will now be revealed in a video after each of the three main sports seasons.

The initial installment of the HSOT Honors for the new era will be available on Monday, January 15th. The program will reveal the recipients of various awards for the 2023-2024 school year fall sports.

These are all the past recipients of the awards ceremony:
