Rams draft former Western Alamance kicker Joshua Karty, joins punter from North Surry in LA
In the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Stanford University kicker Joshua Karty. The specialist is an alum of Western Alamance High School in Elon. Karty was one of two placekickers selected in the entire draft. He was taken with the 209th overall pick.
Karty will join a fellow North Carolina-raised specialist in Los Angeles. The Rams’ starting punter, Ethan Evans, graduated from North Surry High School in Mount Airy. Evans was drafted by the Rams in the seventh round of last year’s draft.
At Stanford, Karty was a two-time First Team All PAC-12 selection. Last fall, he made 23-of-27 field goal attempts with a long of 56 yards.
During Karty’s time at Western Alamance, Karty made 32 field goals and 137 PATs in his career. He was selected to the 2010s HighSchoolOT All-Decade high school football team. He was selected to the 2019 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
