Ralph Jackson departs from Anson to take on the role of head coach at West Stanly.
A major shift in head coaching has occurred in the Rocky River 2A/3A Conference.
The previous head coach of Anson County High School, Ralph Jackson, has departed to take on the role of head coach at West Stanly High School.
For the last nine years, Jackson has been the head of Anson’s football team.
But, he was given an opportunity to go back to the county where he began his journey.
In the early 2000s, Jackson began coaching at South Stanly High School. He later coached at North Stanly from 2010 to 2015.
The coach was hired as the head coach of Anson before the start of the 2015 season.
During his nine-year tenure as head coach of the Bearcats, Jackson led the team to six playoff appearances. In 2019, the school claimed a Rocky River Conference championship and Jackson was named coach of the year in both 2019 and 2023.
The final season of his tenure as Anson’s head coach led to a 5-6 record and a spot in the 2A state playoffs.
Jackson is taking over for Brett Morton, who stepped down in November.
