Providence takes No. 1 in final boys tennis rankings for 2024; Fike and Grimsley among area code leaders

For the first time, Providence is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 boys tennis rankings, taking the top spot in the final rankings after winning the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A championship and ending the year with an 18-0 record.

The Panthers are just in front of another state champion, as the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association’s D1 champ, Cary Academy, was No. 2. Other state champions that ended the year ranked were No. 11 South Point (3A champ), No. 16 Franklin Academy (2A champ), No. 22 Cape Fear Academy (NCISAA D2 champ), and No. 25 Elkin (1A champ). NCISAA D3 champ Davidson Day was unranked in the statewide top 25, but did get ranked in the 704 area code top 15.
