Providence Day takes No. 1 in final girls soccer rankings for 2024; Asheville and Jacksonville among area code leaders

For the first time, Providence Day is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 girls soccer rankings, taking the top spot in the final top 25 after winning the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A championship and ending the year with an 24-1-1 record.

The Chargers are in front of three other state champions, all from the N.C. High School Athletic Association. Jacksonville, the 3A champ, is second, Seaforth, the 2A champ, is third, and Marvin Ridge, the 4A champ, is fourth. Ashley, the 4A runner-up, rounds out the top five.

The only other state champion that ended the year ranked was No. 17 Christ the King (1A champ), though NCISAA 3A champ Forsyth Country Day and NCISAA 1A champ Pungo Christian made area code top 15 rankings. NCISAA 2A champ Davidson Day just missed the 704 area code’s top 15.
