Providence Day 5-star OT David Sanders commits to Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers are collecting 5-star football players from North Carolina like Infinity Stones.

A couple of weeks after Grimsley High School 5-star junior quarterback Faizon Brandon committed to Tennessee, Providence Day School 5-star senior offensive tackle David Sanders announced his intent to sign with the Vols.

Sanders’ commitment happened in a ceremony held at Providence Day’s Mosack Athletic Center at 1:00.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle is a consensus top six prospect in the country. 247Sports and Rivals are the highest on Sanders as they rank him as the No. 3 senior in America. ESPN has Sanders slotted at No. 4 and On3 has him at No. 6.

A freak athlete, Sanders received over 100 scholarship offers. His quickness, natural strength, and unusual arm length makes him a prototypical modern left tackle. In addition to his offensive prowess, Sanders has played an impressive amount of snaps on Providence Day’s defense as an edge rusher. He has been credited with 93 total tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, and 13 sacks in his career.

He is a rare multi-time First Team All-State selection to the HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team before his senior year.

Sanders chose Tennessee out of a top four of Georgia, Nebraska, and Ohio State.

Providence Day has won three consecutive N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division 1 state championships. The Chargers opened up the 2024 season with a 55-8 win over Trinity Christian. Providence Day is ranked as the No. 2 team in the HighSchoolOT statewide Top 25.
