Apr. 4, 3:08 p.m. – On Thursday, Neal received dual offers from the Appalachian State University football and basketball programs. App State’s basketball program originally offered Neal last July. The Mountaineers are the first athletic program to offer Neal in both sports, providing the first tangible opportunity for the star two-sport athlete to continue playing both sports at the next level.

  • 2022-23 football season: As a freshman, Neal was an instant star. He led the state with 12 interceptions and helped Reidsville advance to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A state championship game, where the Rams fell short against East Duplin. He also had 35 tackles and 10 more pass breakups. As a receiver, he caught 51 passes for 730 yards and 10 touchdowns.
  • 2022-23 football season: For his performance as a freshman, Neal was named to the 2022 HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team as a Second Team Defensive Player selection.
  • 2022-23 offseason: HighSchoolOT caught up with Neal for his first big interview before a basketball game against T.W. Andrews.
  • 2022-23 basketball season: Just like in football, Neal was an instant star on the basketball court. As a freshman, he averaged 22.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 11.2 assists, and 5.6 steals. Reidsville advanced to the 2A basketball state championship but the Rams came up short again for the second time in the school year, losing to Farmville Central.
  • 2022-24 basketball season: For his performance as a freshman, Neal was named to the 2022-23 HighSchoolOT All-State Boys Basketball Team as a First Team selection.
  • 2023-24 football season: Neal’s sophomore year got off to a rough start thanks to a collarbone injury that he suffered before the season. He made his return to the team in mid October and instantly scored a touchdown against T.W. Andrews. Neal came back in time to help Reidsville return to the 2A state championship game and win it all this time. In the Rams’ state championship win over Clinton, Neal caught seven passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. He ended his eight-game campaign with 547 receiving yards, seven receiving touchdowns, 13 tackles, three interceptions, and eight pass breakups.
  • 2023-24 basketball season: Reidsville got its revenge on Farmville Central as the Rams defeated the Jaguars in overtime of the 2A state championship game. Reidsville finished a blsitering 29-0 after the season. Neal averaged 19 points, three rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 4.2 steals as a sophomore while the Rams integrated transfers Johnniyus Sharpe and Cam’Ron Jones. Neal became a rare athlete to win a state championship in both football and basketball during his sophomore year.
  • 2023-24 basketball season: For his performance as a sophomore, Neal was named to the 2023-24 HighSchoolOT All-State Boys Basketball Team as a First Team selection
  • 2023-24 offseason: HighSchoolOT caught up with Neal at football and basketball offseason events to discuss his recruitment and junior year plans
  • 2024-25 football season: Neal moved to quarterback for the junior season to help Reidsville fill the avoid left by the graduated Al Lee. The move was an instant success. He completed 74.6% of his 228 passing attempts for 2,495 yards, 29 touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for 583 yards and eight touchdowns. On defense, he had 18 tackles and two interceptions to go with eight pass breakups and a forced fumble. Reidsville was upset in the second round of the 2A West playoffs by East Rutherford.
  • 2024-25 football season: For his performance as a junior, Neal was named to the 2024 HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team as a Second Team Two-Player Player selection.
  • 2024-25 football season: For his performance as a junior, Neal was named to the 2024 HighSchoolOT 336 All-Region Team as a Second Team offensive selection.
  • 2024-25 basketball season: Reidsville and Neal rebounded from their early football loss and pulled off another unbeaten basketball season and 2A state championship victory. This year’s title game win came against Northwood. Neal averaged a career high 22.9 points per game with 9.3 assists per game and career highs of 4.8 rebounds per game and 7.1 steals per game. Between his sophomore and junior basketball seasons, Neal led Reidsville to a 60-0 record.
