Panthers trade WR Jonathan Mingo to Cowboys for 2025 fourth-round pick :: WRALSportsFan.com
Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers traded second year wide receiver Jonathan Mingo to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.
The Panthers also sent the Panthers a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025-fourth round pick.
Mingo, the team’s second-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft out of Mississippi, has 12 receptions for 121 yards in the 2024 season. He has one catch in the past four games. Also, Mingo has played 56% of the Panthers’ offensive snaps this season compared to 89% of the team’s offensive snaps in 2023.
Mingo’s snap counts have gradually dwindled since the Week 6 game on Oct. 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. It marked only the second time in his NFL career he played fewer than 50% of the team’s offensive snaps in games he’s played.
- Week 1: 33 snaps (56%)
- Week 2: 30 snaps (63%)
- Week 3: 49 (66%)
- Week 4: 56 snaps (80%)
- Week 5: 41 snaps (68%)
- Week 6: 30 snaps (45%)
- Week 7: 11 snaps (26%)
- Week 8: 33 snaps (54%)
- Week 9: 15 snaps (28%)
The Panthers have started to rely upon other receivers, including 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette, undrafted rookie Jalen Coker and 2017 seventh-round pick David Moore. Mingo’s limited playing time also comes as Adam Thielen deals with a hamstring injury and the trade of Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens.
Mingo’s trade came before the NFL trade deadline at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday.
The Panthers (2-7) play the New York Giants (2-7) at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Munich, Germany.
