The Carolina Panthers signed wide receiver Deven Thompkins, the team announced Thursday on its website.

Thompkins, 24, was undrafted out of Utah State. He spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was with Dave Canales for the 2023 season and much of the Panthers’ current offensive staff.

The 5-foot-8, 155-pound Thompkins had 22 receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown for the Bucs in 22 games the last two seasons. He also returned kicks and punts for the Bucs.

In May, the Bucs waived Thompkins with an injury designation.

In June, Thompkins’ wife, Maria Castilhos, came forward on social media with allegations of domestic violence, according to reporting from GulfLive.com.

Thompkins denied the allegations. On July 15, Fox Sports’ Greg Auman reported that Thompkins has been cleared of the allegations.

“Following a review of the matter, the league did not discover sufficient evidence to support a finding of a violation of the personal conduct policy,” NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told Auman.

Thompkins is expected to compete in a Panthers wide receiver room with offseason acquisition Diontae Johnson, veteran Adam Thielen and first-round pick Xavier Legette.
