Panthers’ Dave Canales, Bryce Young embrace positive outlook for 2024 season :: WRALSportsFan.com

First-year Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales and second-year quarterback Bryce Young are aligned on a positive outlook with Monday’s start of organized team activities.

Canales, who served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator in 2023, explained his coaching style on Monday.

“I’m not a negative motivator,” Canales said. “I’m about possibilities.

“I’m about how good we can become.”

Canales said he’s focused on teaching and the team’s future despite struggles in recent seasons.

“It’s something that I’ve kind of always personally felt like and agreed, and something that now we embody as a team,” Young said. “That’s definitely reassuring.

“Again, it’s been great learning the Xs and Os from coach, but also, just watching him lead.”

The Panthers are coming off a 2-15 record in the 2023 season. The team has had six consecutive seasons with a sub. 500 record.

“I think maybe some guys would be naturally motivated that way,” Canales said. “If they do, that’s just never really worked for me.”

The Panthers are the only team in the NFL without a primetime game in the 2024 season.

It is possible, with flexible scheduling, that the Panthers could get flexed into a national television window. Canales said his team would need to earn it.

On Tuesday and Thursday, the Panthers are scheduled to have more OTA offseason workouts. OTAs resume on May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4 and June 6.

Th Panthers’ mandatory minicamp is set for June 11-13.
