On National Signing Day, Reagan’s Landan Callahan was the only in-state recruit to sign with Duke.
Manny Diaz, the new head coach of Duke’s football team, recruited 16 players during the early signing period. However, only one of them had played high school football in North Carolina.
On Wednesday, the Blue Devils signed Landan Callahan, the sole in-state recruit from Reagan High School who will be playing as a cornerback.
Callahan is a defensive back who stands at 6 feet and weighs 170 pounds. He has been given a three-star rating by all prominent recruiting websites. According to 247Sports.com, he is the 22nd best player in North Carolina in the Class of 2024.
In his final year, Callahan participated in 11 games and accumulated a total of 45 tackles, including one for a loss. He also contributed two interceptions and ten pass deflections for the Raiders.
Duke has received a verbal pledge from defensive lineman Jaylen Carl of Southwest Guilford, although he did not officially sign a letter of intent on Wednesday. He may choose to sign during the early signing period or wait until February.
Carl is a player with a three-star rating, measuring at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 240 pounds.
Duke’s initial signing group comprised of individuals from nine different states and Australia. Derrick Brown Jr., a linebacker, hails from Waxhaw, North Carolina, but attended high school in Connecticut.
