Northwest Cabarrus All-State LB Jackson Forrest commits to ODU

On Wednesday, Northwest Cabarrus High School linebacker Jackson Forrest announced his commitment to attend and play at Old Dominion University.

Forrest was a HighSchoolOT All-State selection for his performance as a junior last fall. He made the second team. Forrest was credited with 147 tackles (12.3/game), 40 tackles for a loss, 18 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He is one of the top returning players in the state in terms of sack production.

The class of 2025 prospect is listed at 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds. He carries a 4.0 GPA.

Old Dominion rose to the top for Forrest over other offers from Charlotte, App State, Cornell, Princeton, Lafayette, Columbia, Penn, Lehigh, Bryant, Dartmouth, NC A&T, Richmond, Gardner-Webb, and Georgetown.

The Monarchs have a Division I FBS program that competes in Conference USA.

Northwest Cabarrus finished the 2023 season with a 10-2 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the South Piedmont 3A Conference. The Trojans fell to conference rival Jay M. Robinson by a score of 27-17 in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A West state playoffs.
