North Mecklenburg 4-star DL Charles House commits to Tennessee
The University of Tennessee has picked up the verbal commitment of North Mecklenburg rising senior defensive lineman Charles “Chuck” House.
House is considered a 4-star prospect by On3. The service ranks him as the No. 9 class of 2025 prospect in North Carolina and the No. 284 overall prospect in the nation. House is considered a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. ESPN has House as the No. 15 rising senior in N.C. , Rivals puts him at No. 18, and 247Sports has him slotted at No. 23 in the state.
He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds on North Mecklenburg’s Hudl page. On3 has him lsited at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds.
The defensive tackle chose Tennessee over Alabama and Georgia on his decision day.
As a freshman on varsity, House registered five sacks. As a sophomore, House was named to the All-Conference team for the Queen City 3A/4A Conference. Last season, North Mecklenburg’s MaxPreps page credited him with 22 total tackles, seven tackles for a loss, and three sacks.
Tennessee is the school that House’s new head coach Darryl Vareen attended and played football at.
Last year, North Mecklenburg finished the season with a 5-6 overall record and made the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A West playoffs. The Vikings fell on the road at Grimsley in the first round by a score of 54-0.
