North Carolina High School Football Rankings: The Top 25 teams in the state right now

HighSchoolOT has released its updated North Carolina high school football rankings following the action of week nine.

HSOT has two sets of rankings: a statewide Top 25 and top 15s for each of North Carolina’s six area codes.

This week’s rankings have seen the biggest changes of any week this season.

Mallard Creek, Reidsville, and Providence Day have slipped out of the top 10. Mallard Creek and Providence Day were not competitive in losses to very good teams. Reidsville has survived scares from West Stokes and Walkertown in back-to-back weeks.

Seventy-First, Cardinal Gibbons, and Mount Tabor have slid up into those teams’ spots. Cardinal Gibbons and Mount Tabor have only lost to teams that are also in the top 10 while Seventy-First has returned to its dominant ways after some shakiness on defense to start the season.

Leesville Road slipped down to No. 22 after a close game with Enloe. Clayton, also from the 919, flew into the top 25 at No. 20 after another impressive outing in a 49-0 win over a one-loss Corinth Holders team. Clayton’s defense has been one of the best in North Carolina.

Previous No. 22 South Point dropped out after a loss to Ashbrook.
