No. 7 Southern Durham defeats J.F. Webb to earn 10th win

DURHAM, N.C. – Southern School of Energy and Sustainability ran away with a 79-28 win over J.F. Webb to continue its dominance within state lines.

The No. 7 ranked Spartans triggered a running clock moments into the third and picked up double-digit scoring nights from three different players to improve to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Southern’s recent journey through the John Wall Holiday Invitational yielded a thrilling win over nationally ranked Sidwell Friends (DC) and its only two losses — John Marshall (VA) and Westchester (CA).

Six of the Wednesday night’s first eight points came from freshman AJ Morman Jr.. Butler recruit Jackson Keith followed with a run of five straight to inflate the early Spartan lead to 11-2.

Jai’den Davis slammed down a late first-quarter dunk and was responsible for Southern’s final three buckets in a 23-11 opening period.

Jakari Glaspie and Dwight Vincent spent the early minutes of the second quarter all over the rim. Keith scored 13 of his game-high 22 in the frame to give the Spartans a 52-22 at the break.

Seven different players scored for Southern in the second half. J.F. Webb was led in scoring by Daniel Wright’s 11 points.

The Spartans quickly turn around and host Louisburg on Thursday night. The Warriors (7-5, 0-3) return home to face Vance County, that game is currently scheduled for Friday night.
