No. 6 Christ School wears down Rabun Gap, sets up showdown with Durham Academy
ARDEN, N.C. — Over the last few years, you’d be hard pressed to find a boys lacrosse team in the state whose defense is as consistently dominant as Christ School’s.
That was the case again on Tuesday, as the No. 6 Greenies held a shutout over Rabun Gap of Georgia en route to a dominant 8-2 win.
Christ School (11-4), ranked sixth in the state across all classifications, led 3-0 at halftime, content to maintain possession and be selective on scoring chances. Rabun Gap (8-6) didn’t score until it was already 6-0 in Christ School’s favor.
Liam Burnett and Hunter Sanford opened up the scoring, followed by the first of four goals by Palo Miles. The second half was a shared bonanza between Caden Paradine, who scored all three goals in the last two quarters, and Miles, who added three more.
The win lines up a top-10 battle on Friday as No. 3 Durham Academy will come to Arden. Both teams are positioned for top seeding in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association D1 playoffs.
