No. 5 East Forsyth looks sharp in blowout win over No. 21 A.C. Reynolds

Not even halfway through the first quarter, East Forsyth had a top 25 matchup practically won.

The No. 5 Eagles broke out to a 28-0 lead over No. 21 A.C. Reynolds after the first and went on to win 49-14 in a running clock.

Senior 4-star UNC quarterback commit Bryce Baker was sensational. Baker pushed the ball down the field and did so accurately. In three plays, Baker and East Forsyth had three completions and a touchdown. Baker hit J.P. Gilchrist for the first of three touchdowns connections from 34 yards out.

Baker threw for five touchdown passes and rushed for one. He had one interception in the game, but it wasn’t consequential as the Eagles were already up by five scores.

East Forsyth’s defense was very strong.

A.C. Reynolds has a senior App State commit at running back and a junior quarterback named Ely Hamrick with multiple Power 4 offers. The Eagles’ front seven did not allow Guest any room to operate in the first half. Guest’s biggest play of the game came on a route he ran in an obvious passing situation. On a fourth-and-14, Hamrick slid up into the pocket and delivered a 54-yard touchdown pass to Guest, who was streaking up the seam.

The Eagles’ defense is very deep. East Forsyth rotated new bodies in regularly and didn’t seem to miss a beat. Senior defensive tackle Chris Kirby, senior defensive end Robbie Whitney, and 315-pound senior defensive tackle Briad Godfrey were among the players who stood out from East Forsyth’s front seven.

East Forsyth (3-0 overall, 0-0 Central Piedmont 4A) is on a bye next week. The Eagles will next travel across Forsyth County to play Reagan on September 20. That will be the first game of CPC play. A.C. Reynolds (1-2 overall, 0-0 Mountain Athletic 3A/4A) will have another 4A challenge next week as it travels to Watauga.
