No. 25 Seaforth girls soccer notches fourth straight shutout, defeats Southern Lee

JORDAN LAKE, N.C. — To win a second straight 2A girls soccer title, Seaforth has been trying to fit as many nonconference games against good competition as it can.

The latest edition came on Friday night, when the No. 25 Hawks proved they were up to the test with a 5-0 win over Southern Lee.

Seaforth, poised to be one of the top seeds in the playoffs, is now 3-2 against 4A and 3A opponents.

Seaforth (12-2-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime. The Hawks got on the board in the eighth minute on a breakaway by Caitlin Erman, then doubled the lead in the 12th minute as Lillian Adamo got a rebound, then the lead became 3-0 in the 18th minute as Laurin Jackson converted a penalty.

Second-half goals were scored by Erman, another breakaway, in the 56th and by Eva Wahieb with an assist to Amara Darden in the 73rd.

Southern Lee (12-3-1) was shut out for the first time this season. Cavaliers freshman Elizabeth Harrington (34 goals in 14 matches) was a threat early but the Hawks kept her at bay.

The Hawks entered the match ranked eighth in the 919 area code while Southern Lee was 14th.
