No. 2 Ashley rallies by No. 11 Hoggard in state’s biggest girls soccer rivalry

MYRTLE GROVE, N.C. — Call her Kieran “Big Game” Bradley.

For the second time in her career, the junior scored a hat trick in one of the biggest girls soccer rivalries in the state.

Once again, it was part of a Screaming Eagles win.

This time, it only took nine minutes for the hat trick to take place.

No. 2 Ashley, behind Bradley’s three first-half goals, defeated No. 11 Hoggard by a 4-1 score on Tuesday.

Hoggard (10-1, 5-1), ranked 11th in the state, took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as Andy Dabbs met a corner kick from Jordan Devoid forcefully in the seventh minute.

Ashley (11-0-2, 5-0), ranked second, has played in the 4A championship for the last two seasons, winning the East regional and finishing runner-up. They needed to show resolve when giving up an early goal.

The Bradley show arrived just in time.

Bradley scored her first by stepping in front of a goalkeeper pass and coolly leveling the game, the second on a 1-v-1 breakaway, and the third by a volley following a throw-in from Teagan Anderson.

After Hoggard had the better run of play leading up to its goal, the Vikings were on their back heel for most of the rest of the match.

That 3-1 lead at halftime was expanded in the second half to 4-1 as Savannah Manset volleyed in a ball from a scrum that was jump-started by another Anderson throw-in.
