No. 18 Seaforth wins seventh straight, downs No. 15 Wakefield girls basketball

RALEIGH, N.C. — There will be some changes to next week’s HighSchoolOT top 25 in girls basketball thanks to the Dexter Cooley Showcase.

No. 18 Seaforth led early and never looked back in a 58-41 road win over No. 15 Wakefield in the Dexter Cooley Showcase on Saturday.

Seaforth (7-1) was up early and never trailed, though the lead was cut to 33-24 at halftime thanks to a strong second quarter by Wakefield (4-2) that included five 3-pointers — four from Sydney Conti.

But the Hawks, led by Virginia recruit Gabby White’s 25 points, were too solid on both ends of the floor.

Seaforth only had four scorers, but it was a varied attack so that Katie Leonard’s 14, Camille Rozzell’s 10 and Peyton Collins’ nine came at just the right times of game to keep the Wolverines at bay.

Wakefield was led by Conti’s 12 points, while Maddison McIntyre added 11.
