No. 15 East Forsyth baseball wins 11th straight, eases by Davie County

FARMINGTON, N.C. — With two weeks left in the regular season, East Forsyth continues to play like one of the hottest teams in the state.

They’ll need to keep it up to finish the year strong against fellow Central Piedmont Conference powers Reagan and West Forsyth, but this week’s series with Davie County gives no indication they’re slowing down soon.

East Forsyth won at Davie by an 11-6 score on Wednesday, buoyed by a seven-run burst in the top of the third that could’ve held up by its own the rest of the way.

Davie (6-12, 4-6) did scrape together some runs of its own in the bottom half but fell behind 10-2 going into the bottom of the fifth and trailed 11-3 going into the bottom of the seventh.

East Forsyth (16-3, 10-0), ranked 15th in the state and tops in the 336 area code, has now won 11 straight games. Two of its three losses have come to out-of-state teams. The Eagles won game one of the season series with Davie just a day earlier by a 15-3 score.

Both teams had about the same number of hits (East Forsyth 12, Davie 11), but East Forsyth can also hang its hat on having six straight games of 11 or more runs.

Davie was led at the plate by a few batters with two hits each. Coy James, a senior Ole Miss commit, is now batting .615 in 18 games with 32 hits and 11 doubles. He’s also tied for the state lead in home runs (nine) and was inches away from belting his 10th in the bottom of the first when he was denied at the left field wall by Eben Greene.

Peyton Crews picked up the win on the mound, working five innings of four-hit ball and striking out three.

Six East Forsyth players had two or more hits, led by Carter Long’s two doubles and a single. Dalton Davsko had a game-high three RBIs.
