In 2024, North Carolina FC’s goalkeeper, Nick Holliday, will join a new team and gain more recognition due to a significant transfer.

Holliday, aged 17, has signed with Charlotte FC for the 2024 season in Major League Soccer. He is the first player from NCFC to be directly transferred to an MLS contract.

NCFC posted on X, “Although we will miss you greatly, we are incredibly proud of you. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey.”

The first game of the season for Charlotte FC is on Feb. 24, facing off against NYCFC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Holliday played in 13 matches for NCFC in 2023, recording 26 saves and allowing 16 goals. His save percentage was 61%.

In the 2022 season, Holliday showed progress by starting eight games, recording 20 saves, and allowing only 16 goals. He maintained a save percentage of 55.6% for NCFC.

In September of 2021, Holliday became a professional player for NCFC at just 15 years old.

Holliday’s first game as a professional was on June 20, 2021, when he played against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. This made him the youngest goalkeeper to ever start a match in either USL League One or Championship.
