New plans for $300-million PNC Arena renovation project expected Thursday :: WRALSportsFan.com

On Thursday, we expect to see brand new images of potential enhancements to PNC Arena.

This comes just one day after the new Hurricane Holdings CEO, Brian Forks, talked about his interest in bringing a Major League Baseball team to Raleigh.

Board members expect to talk about this project Thursday afternoon. We’re expecting to see plans for this $300-million renovation project later in the day.

Plans for the arena would go far beyond hockey.

What you see now could look totally different in a few years.

The owner of the Carolina Hurricanes has plans to develop up to 80 acres around the arena. Fans can expect a music venue and sportsbook on the property.

But the project won’t include a baseball stadium.

Back in February, ESPN named Raleigh as a potential host city for a new MLB team. Forks said he hasn’t communicated with the MLB yet.

He said those plans are just in the early stages.
