Neal scores four times to help Roanoke Rapids remain unbeaten

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. – Casey Neal’s legendary career at Roanoke Rapids has saved some of the Yellow Jackets’ best soccer for last.

The senior scored four times in a 5-0 win over Rocky Mount to improve to 14-0 overall.

She and Sloan Bullock each found the back of the net in the opening 20 minutes of play. The 2-0 lead was enough to hold until the game’s 61st minute.

Neal broke through the Gryphons’ defense and calmly tapped in a 1-on-1 chance with the keeper to jump ahead 3-0.

In the next eight minutes, she would find the back of the net twice, matching her goal total from a year ago at 43. Entering the final two games of Roanoke Rapids’ regular season, she has 171 career goals in 65 matches.

Rocky Mount’s chances in the attacking third were few and far between, but Shaniah Daniels was ready to fend off whatever came her way. Tuesday was the sixth time this season that the Yellow Jackets posted a clean sheet.

Roanoke Rapids hosts Bunn on April 29, and the Yellow Jackets travel to Nash Central on May 1.
