NCHSAA releases schedule for 2025 basketball championship week in Winston-Salem

The N.C. High School Athletic Association has released the daily schedule for the 2025 championship week for boys & girls basketball. The regional finals and state championship games for both genders will occur over a six-day period.

Wake Forest University’s Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum will serve as the host. Games begin on Monday, March 10, and run through Saturday, March 15. Tickets will be available for purchase on Friday through the LJVM website.

Specific matchups will be assigned to time slots after the fourth round of the playoffs. Assignments will be made based on the best accommodations for teams involved.

The NCHSAA began the “Final Four” style event for the basketball regional championships and state championships last year. The event was successful enough to bring it back in 2025. The association originally made the change in response to growing problems with regional venues.

Here is the schedule for the regional championships:

  • Monday, March 10: 3A boys & girls regional championships
  • Tuesday, March 11: 1A boys & girls regional championships
  • Wednesday, March 12: 4A boys & girls regional championships
  • Thursday, March 13: 2A boys & girls regional championships

With four regional championships each day at Lawrence Joel, games will begin at 2 p.m. Following games will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the previous game. Approximate game times are 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.

State championship games will be played on Friday and Saturday. Here is the state championship schedule:

  • Friday, March 14: 1A & 3A boys & girls state championships
  • Saturday, March 15: 2A & 4A boys & girls state championships

Friday’s state championships will be played at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Saturday’s state championships will be played at 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

Three rounds of the basketball state playoffs have already taken place. The fourth round is scheduled for this Friday, March 7, at the higher seed.

HighSchoolOT will have game stories, highlights, photos, and postgame press conferences of all regional championship and state championship games.
