— Boo Corrigan’s tenure as NC State’s athletic director will reach 10 years under the terms of a contract extension between him and the school approved Friday.

The Board of Trustees at NC State has approved a two-year extension for Corrigan, who has held the position of athletic director at the school since April 2019. The extension will run through June of 2029.

Corrigan will receive an annual salary of $713,125 under the new contract, with an additional increase of $50,000 every July 1.

Starting on May 1st, Corrigan will receive an additional $700,000 each year as supplemental compensation. This will be based on his success in fundraising and meeting media requirements, as well as any deals involving his name, image, likeness, and apparel, equipment, and services.

The additional funds are given out every three months, specifically at the end of March, June, September, and December. Additionally, the amount will go up by $50,000 each year on July 1st.

Corrigan has the potential to receive bonuses of $300,000 based on their academic achievements and athletic success. This includes a $25,000 bonus for the football team participating in a bowl game, another $25,000 for the ACC Championship Game, and an additional $25,000 for either the men’s or women’s basketball teams making it to the NCAA Tournament. If any of the Wolfpack teams win a national championship, Corrigan will receive a bonus of $50,000.

Chancellor Randy Woodson expressed his appreciation for Boo’s exceptional leadership, which has led to NC State Athletics achieving unprecedented levels of success in terms of competition, academics, and finances. He also acknowledged the value of having such a skilled and respected leader to guide the university through the constantly evolving realm of college athletics.

In the 2023 fiscal year, NC State’s athletic department generated over $121 million in revenue.

In 2022 and 2023, Corrigan, the son of former ACC Commissioner Gene Corrigan, held the position of chairman for the College Football Playoff selection committee.

In 2021 and 2022, he was granted extensions for his contract. The agreement for 2022 was valid until 2027.

In the 2022-23 sports season, NC State achieved a ranking of 19th in the Learfield Directors’ Cup, which is the highest it has been in three consecutive years. This was also the school’s third-highest ranking ever.

If NC State ranks within the top 25 in the Directors’ Cup standings, Corrigan will be given a $25,000 bonus. If it ranks within the top 10, the bonus will be $50,000.

Since his arrival in Raleigh, NC State has achieved 16 team championships in the ACC, which is three more than any other school in the conference during that period.

Corrigan expressed gratitude for Chancellor Woodson and the Board of Trustees for their ongoing confidence and backing, as well as for the dedication and hard work of the coaches, staff, and student-athletes in improving the Pack.
