The Wolfpack’s women’s basketball team, ranked third, won their game against Chattanooga, seeded fourteenth, with a score of 64-45 in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

NC State continued their dominance at home in the NCAA Tournament, winning their 17th consecutive game in Reynolds Coliseum. This impressive streak began in the 1985 postseason and brings their total number of victories in the opening round of NCAA Tournament play to 19 out of 29 appearances.

The team advances to the next round game on Monday, also to be held at Reynolds Coliseum, against the sixth-seeded Tennessee.

In the NCAA Tournament, Aziaha James had the highest score of 19 points, all of which were scored in the second half. She made 5 out of 10 three pointers, making it the second-highest number of threes hit by any Pack player in this game.

River Baldwin achieved her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She was the team’s top rebounder, with six of her rebounds coming from offensive plays.

Saniya Rivers contributed 16 points to the score and also reached double digits. Madison Hayes (4) and Zoe Brooks (5) together accounted for 9 of the 10 assists made by the Pack, with Hayes matching her personal best.
