NC State, ranked sixth in the country with a record of 15-1 overall and 3-1 in ACC play, extended their unbeaten streak at home by easily defeating Virginia 93-66 in front of a packed crowd at Reynolds Coliseum. The Cavaliers, with a record of 8-7 overall and 0-4 in ACC play, were no match for the dominant Wolfpack on Thursday evening.

The Pack demonstrated their diverse set of offensive skills once more, with five players achieving double-digit scoring in their victorious home game. This season, NC State scored a total of 93 points, the highest of any game, and the first time scoring over 90 against a conference opponent since their last home game against Syracuse on February 20, 2022.

In her fifth start, freshman guard Zoe Brooks achieved a personal best of 19 points in scoring. Laci Steele, another rookie, also had a career high with 13 points and three three-pointers. Mimi Collins came close to a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Madison Hayes contributed 17 points and Aziaha James scored 15.

Every eligible player played in the win, and 10 different members of the Wolfpack team scored points. The team made 10 three-pointers, with five players making at least one. James (2 out of 3) and Hayes (3 out of 7) also had multiple three-pointers alongside Steele.

NC State quickly took a 12-4 lead within the first two and a half minutes, causing Virginia to call a timeout. Despite their efforts, the Cavaliers were unable to bounce back. Brooks’ five consecutive points gave the Wolfpack a 10-point advantage (19-9) with six minutes left in the first quarter. From then on, Virginia was unable to narrow the gap and remained behind for the rest of the game.

NC State maintained a significant lead throughout the second half after scoring their highest point total of the season in the first half, going into the break with a 57-34 advantage.

NC State has achieved a winning streak of 11 consecutive games at home and maintains a flawless record (9-0) in home matches during the 2023-24 season.

NC State’s open date falls on Sunday, followed by a matchup against Miami on Thursday, Jan. 18 for the sixth-ranked Wolfpack.
