Najai Hines, a 6-foot-8 tight end from South Garner, has received his first offer from a school in the Big 12 conference.
Junior tight end Najai Hines, standing at 6-foot-8, of South Garner High School has recently received a significant offer. Hines announced on his X account on Thursday that he has been offered a verbal scholarship from West Virginia University, making it his first offer from a Big 12 school.
Hines received his initial offer from a university within the Southeastern Conference, specifically from the University of South Carolina in October. He has since been offered opportunities from East Carolina, Temple, and Troy.
College recruiters are intrigued by his physical build. Not only is he officially measured at 6 feet and 8 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds, his arm span is an impressive 7 feet and 1.5 inches.
During his third year of playing, Hines caught 15 passes for a total of 227 yards and scored three touchdowns in five games. South Garner had a final record of 5-6 and participated in the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A East playoffs.
Hines is currently excelling as a member of South Garner’s basketball team. He has an average of 14.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game.
