Moton and Oliver are creating lasting impacts at NCCU.

REPHRASE THE TEXT:

I never thought that my fame and success would come about in this way. It is amazing to see how the North Carolina Central University has produced such accomplished coaches in both basketball and football. I had the privilege of speaking with Coach Levelle Moton and Coach Trei Oliver, who are alumni of the university and have become legends in their respective sports. We had a conversation that can only be seen on WRAL. It is an honor for both of you to hold the title of all-time wins leader and CIAA Coach of the Year. What does it mean to you to have both graduated from NCCU and now lead the program? You both have been instrumental in continuing the legacy of producing strong leaders at our university. We didn’t have to start from scratch because there was already a winning tradition here. The support and community at NCCU have played a huge role in our success. However, it hasn’t always been easy for us. We faced challenges and doubters at the start of our coaching careers. Coach Oliver had a rough start with an 8-24 record in his debut season in 2009. Despite the criticism, he stayed true to his passion and dedication for the university. We have both faced similar challenges, but we never let it discourage us from pursuing our dreams. We have worked hard to recruit talented players and bring in supporters who are committed to our success. Our efforts have paid off as we have both been named CIAA Coach of the Year twice. In 2022, Coach Oliver led the Eagles to victory in the Celebration Bowl against Jackson State, despite being considered underdogs. Similarly, I have also led my team to numerous conference championships and trips to March Madness during my tenure as head coach. But beyond the wins and accolades, our biggest accomplishment as coaches is helping our players grow and become better individuals. We take great pride in seeing them succeed both on and off the field. Our legacy is not just about winning games, but about making a positive impact on the lives of these young men. We are proud to be part of the NCCU community and will continue to strive for success in a fair and ethical manner.
