Buies Creek, N.C.
Mike Minter, the head football coach at Campbell, has stepped down from his position.
On Monday morning, the university announced that Minter had spent 11 seasons with the Camels and had a record of 45-66.
In the past 11 seasons, Coach Minter has greatly contributed to our football program. He played a crucial role in our transition to scholarship football and helped establish the groundwork for our move to the CAA. Director of Athletics Hannah Bazemore expressed her gratitude towards Coach Minter for his influence on our student-athletes, as well as the Campbell community. We extend our best wishes to Coach Minter and his family.
Minter expressed that his 11-year tenure has been a valuable learning opportunity, but he believes it is time to seek new experiences in coaching. He is grateful for the support of Campbell during this time and would like to give a special thanks to Bob Roller for giving him his start in coaching.
Steven Williams, assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, will temporarily take on the role of head coach.
Campbell had a 5-6 record this season, with a 4-4 record in the Coastal Athletic Association Football Conference.
Minter served as a safety for the Carolina Panthers from 1997 until 2006.
